SOURCED FROM RENDE VINEYARD & YANGARRA ESTATE
BLEWITT SPRINGS, MCLAREN VALE
We’ve always thought of the La Petite Vanguard as being our example of a Bistro style wine – the experimental sibling to Vanguardist. Youthful & vibrant, with great drinkability, enhanced by layers of complexity from thoughtful use of solids, skin contact, oak and other vessels.
VINEYARD AND WINERY
With the Rende and Yangarra vineyards situated within a few hundred meters of each other, in the sands of Blewitt Springs, they shared a very similar weather pattern. An ideal season was granted by mother nature, with the required sun/rain ratios providing some relief to the vines after a number of years asking for the varieties to showcase their resilience.
The final wine is a 60/40 blend of Grenache & Mourvèdre. They were fermented separately, with the blend comprising approximately 40% whole bunch. Post blending in winter, elevage took place in a new french oak 22HL cuve for approx 6 months before the final wine sent to bottle without fining or filtration.
