GRENACHE & SYRAH - RENDE VINEYARD, BLEWITT SPRINGS
MOURVEDRE - LENNON VINEYARD, MCLAREN VALE
VINEYARD:
The Rende vineyard boasts an altitude exceeding 200m above sea level. The top soil is pure sand, with clay and red ironstone pockets below the surface. The rejuvenation of this vineyard has seen the return of many plants and animal species. Not all are native, and some more beneficial than others, they do however contribute to creating an ecosystem and profile true to this site.
Lennon Vineyard, located closer to the ocean, sits on grey and red mottled clay giving richness and density to the wine.
VINTAGE OVERVIEW:
The 2025 harvest arrived nearly a month early than average, producing small, concentrated berries. It was the driest season since 2003, which kept disease pressure low but pushed the dry grown vines to draw down. The fruit held its balance and integrity, developing exceptional flavour and complexity that define the vintage.
HARVEST & VINIFICATION:
- Harvest Date: The three parcels of fruit were hand-picked between the 5th and 14th February
- Crushing: Combined and foot-crushed as whole bunches before direct press.
- Fermentation: After a night of cold settling the juice, it was rough racked and begun spontaneous fermentation in three vessels. 40% stainless steel tank, 40% concrete sphere and 20% in egg. These vessels add different attributes and character to this textural and energetic rosé
- Post-Fermentation: After full malo-lactic fermentation the wine remained on gross lees for 5 months before the three components were blended and aged on fine lees prior to bottling.
TASTING NOTES:
BOTANIC wines showcase the refinement and complexity of fruit and a clear expression of terroir.
- Profile & Structure: Grapefruit, pomegranate, fine herbs, mineral acidity balanced with a touch of fine tannin. Prettiness and purity captured from time in stainless steel tank, with roundness and mouthfeel from concrete sphere and egg, lees contact and 100% malo.
- Aging: Gracefully for the next decade
- Classification: Organic (not certified), Vegan Friendly, Natural ferments, No acid or other additions
