2023 La Petite Vanguard 'ROSADO'

We’ve always thought of the La Petite Vanguard as being our example of a Bistro-style wine – the experimental sibling to Vanguardist. Youthful & vibrant, with great drinkability, enhanced by layers of complexity from thoughtful use of solids, skin contact, oak and other vessels.

Introducing our inaugural rosé under the La Petite Vanguard label, crafted from a Portuguese variety, Tinta Barocca. This varietal boasts a soft, full-bodied, and rustic profile, with delightful notes of cherry and blackberries.

The fruit is grown using organic and biodynamic practices by the Bassham family in the Riverland, South Australia.

Hand-harvested in the cool of the morning and sent directly to the press as whole bunches, a gentle and extended press cycle was employed to naturally minimize color extraction.

After being racked off juice lees after 2 days, the wine was allowed to start fermenting spontaneously in an inox tank, remaining on gross lees for 5 months before being racked and sulfured. One final soutirage before bottling occurred to get the wine ‘cellar bright’ before being bottled without fining or filtration.

This fresh and lively ‘ROSADO’ is a versatile companion, perfect for enhancing your dining experiences or for savoring on its own.
