GRENACHE & SYRAH - RENDE VINEYARD, BLEWITT SPRINGS
MOURVEDRE - LENNON VINEYARD, MCLAREN VALE

VINEYARD:
The Rende vineyard boasts an altitude exceeding 200m above sea level. The top soil is pure sand, with clay and red ironstone pockets below the surface. The rejuvenation of this vineyard has seen the return of many plants and animal species. Not all are native, and some more beneficial than others, they do however contribute to creating an ecosystem and profile true to this site.
Lennon Vineyard, located closer to the ocean, sits on grey and red mottled clay giving richness and density to the wine.

VINTAGE OVERVIEW:
The 2026 McLaren Vale vintage was shaped by a cool, wet spring, a warm, dry summer and a cooler, extended finish to harvest. Variable fruit set and low yields contributed to concentrated fruit, while the slower ripening period preserved freshness, balance and varietal definition. The resulting fruit shows excellent flavour, energy and complexity.

HARVEST & VINIFICATION:

  • Harvest Date: 26th February 2026
  • Crushing: Foot-crushed as whole bunches before direct press.
  • Fermentation: Following a night of cold settling, the juice was rough racked and allowed to begin spontaneous fermentation with natural indigenous yeast. Fermentation took place across three vessels: amphora, concrete sphere and stainless steel. Each contributing distinct attributes and character to the wine’s texture and energy.
  • Post-Fermentation: After full malo-lactic fermentation the wine remained on gross lees for 6 months before the three components were blended and aged on fine lees prior to bottling.

TASTING NOTES:
BOTANIC wines showcase the refinement and complexity of fruit and a clear expression of terroir.

  • Profile & Structure: Grapefruit, pomegranate and fine herbs lead into a palate of vibrant mineral acidity, delicate fruit and fine tannin. Spontaneous fermentation, extended lees ageing and the combination of amphora, concrete sphere and stainless steel bring energy, texture and depth, while 100% malolactic fermentation contributes further roundness and mouthfeel. The result is a rosé defined by freshness, purity and complexity.
  • Aging: Gracefully for the next decade
  • Classification: Organic (not certified), Vegan Friendly, Natural ferments, No acid or other additions
